Polygonatum odoratum is an understorey plant of ancient woodland over limestone, from the Mendips (VC6: North Somerset) to the Orton Fells (VC69: Westmorland & Furness).

Polygonatum odoratum has 1 or 2 flowers at each node, and the flowers are not constricted in the middle; its stems are strongly angled and slightly spiralled.
