Euphorbia maculata is prostrate annual herb native to the Americas, from Canada to Belize, but has become naturalised at a number of sites across Britain and Ireland (and the rest of the world).

Euphorbia maculata has asymmetrical-based leaves, usually with a conspicuous blotch in the centre; its stems and fruits are markedly hairy, unlike the locally extinct Euphorbia peplis.
